Minister of State for Power, Goddy Agba, has said that the Federal Government will no longer tolerate the installation of fake and uncertified electricity meters by quacks across the country. Agba stated this, yesterday, during the official commissioning ceremony of the New Nigerian Electricity Management Services Agency (NEMSA) National Meter Test Station for the South East Zone in Enugu. He noted that the power sector remained the engine of economic growth and development, hence the determination of the government to rid the sector of all quacks and provide safe reliable, and sustainable electricity to the entire citizenry.[Guardian]

In a bid to implement the Minamata Convention which is aimed at reducing harmful effects of Mercury on lives and the environment, the Federal Government has met with stakeholders. In his keynote address at the project inception workshop in Abuja organized by the Department of Pollution Control and Environmental Health, Federal Ministry of Environment with the support of United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and Minamata Convention on Mercury, the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Abel Olumuyiwa Enitan noted that Nigeria is faced with a vast challenge of prevalence of mercury in the environment, and in products, particularly in the health and industrial sectors.[Vanguard]

The Federal Government has reinstated her commitment towards a trans fat-free Nigeria by speeding up the gazette of the oil and fats regulations. The Minister of State for Health, Adeleke Olorunnimbe Mamora, disclosed this in Abuja during the advocacy visit by the #Transfatfree Nigeria coalition. Mamora assured that the ministry looks forward to collaborating with the campaign on implementation and enforcement of the trans fatty acids regulation and capacity building for the National Food Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, towards improved testing.[Vanguard]

Federal Government has commenced biometric data capture of 642,000 pupils of public schools in Borno for the ongoing scaling up of the National Home-Grown School Feeding Programme (NHGSFP). Federal government has inaugurated a 22,000 hectres of land Model Ranching Hub Project, under the National Livestock Transformation Plan (NLTP), in Awe local government area of Nasarawa State. National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) on Wednesday said the result of the test being conducted on the Moderna COVID-19 vaccines will be ready by this weekend. It would be recalled that Nigeria on Sunday, August 1, 2021, received 4,000,080 doses of the vaccines donated by the United States Government and undergoing evaluation at NAFDAC’s laboratory.
