The federal government has begun ramping up its preparedness to handle emergencies resulting from the use of nuclear and radio-logical materials in the country. The government stated that a protection strategy in such emergencies remain one of the elements that must be put in place for taking response actions in cases of emergencies, given the growing use of peaceful deployment of nuclear power in the country. The Minister of Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola has inaugurated the Estate Surveyors and Valuers Registration Board (ESVARBON), urging them to help contribute to the process of nation-building. Fashola stated that the inauguration has far-reaching consequences in evaluation as it has public development components, stressing that there was the need for the board to be critical in decisions they take. The Federal Government on Tuesday inaugurated 5,000 independent monitors to supervise the implementation of its social investment programmes across Osun state. Speaking at the flag-off, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajiya Sadiyah Umar Farouq, said the flag-off of the 5000 Independent Monitors was aimed at complementing the quick actualisation of the National Social Investment Programme (NSIP) created by President Muhammadu Buhari in 2016.[Vanguard]

Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, has said an Emergency Communications Centre (ECC) has been approved by the federal government for Zamfara State to support the fight against bandits in the state. The minister spoke yesterday when he received the Zamfara State governor, Alhaji Muhammad Bello Matawalle, in his office in Abuja. The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, (NDLEA) has announced a new date for successful candidates for the Narcotic Officer cadre and Narcotic Assistant cadre, and they are to report for training. A statement by the Agency said, all successful candidates in the 2019 recruitment exercise in the two categories (Narcotic Officer cadre and first batch of Narcotic Assistant cadre) are now to report for training at the NDLEA Academy, Kotton Rikus, Jos in Plateau State on Sunday, July 25, 2021, instead of the earlier announced date of Saturday, July 17, 2021. The Federal Executive Council (FEC) on Wednesday approved a total of N33, 512,601,464 billion for the Nigeria Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) and erosion control projects in 12 states. The Federal Government on Wednesday said participants of the 774,000 jobs will undergo a Basic Business Training (BBT) aimed at exposing them to the basic rudiments of identifying and running micro and small business enterprises. The Federal Executive Council (FEC) on Wednesday approved the 2022–2024 medium term expenditure framework and the fiscal strategy paper (MTEF/FSP) as required by the Fiscal Responsibility Act, with projected revenue of N6.54 trillion for the 2022 fiscal year. Minister of finance, budget and national planning, Zainab Ahmed, who announced this while briefing State House correspondents, after the weekly virtual meeting of the council, said the revenue was projected to increase in 2023 to N9.15 trillion. The Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) has commended President Muhammadu Buhari and the National Assembly on the passage of the Petroleum Industry Bill by the National Assembly. OPEC Secretary-General, Dr Mohammad Barkindo, gave the commendation at the ongoing 20th Nigeria Oil and Gas Conference (NOG) in Abuja, on Tuesday.
