The National Agency for Food, Drug Administration and Control said it had developed a more reliable platform to trace and track unregistered and substandard products in Nigeria. As reported by Punch, the agency stated that the technology would trace and monitor the movement of medicines from the manufacturer to the patients with bar coding to check the growing trend of substandard and falsified drugs and consumables in Nigeria. The Director-General NAFDAC, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, made this known during a press briefing in Abuja, ahead of the forthcoming 2nd African Healthcare Conference scheduled to hold in Lagos today (Tuesday). According to her, NAFDAC, through its collaboration with a firm, Global Standard 1, was working towards expanding its food and drugs authentication system in order to ensure that people had access to the right drugs and consumables. She explained that the agency would, among other things, put structures in place in the distribution supply chain so as to further control the distribution, sale and use of products under its watch.

The Federal Government, through the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) will commission a 98.8KW solar hybrid mini grid power plant at Kare-Dadin Kowa, in Kebbi State, today. Kare-Dadin Kowa, is a small riverine community in Argungun Local Government Area of Kebbi State. A total of 565 high grid solar panels have been installed to power homes, businesses, places of worship, schools and health centres. The solar hybrid mini grid system, will provide clean energy to 483 residential buildings, 82 commercial buildings, and will serve over 3,000 inhabitants of Kare-Dadin Kowa. The Rural Electrification Agency (REA) has the government mandate to undertake the electrification of unserved and underserved communities. REA, enjoys funding from the Rural Electrification Fund (REF). Sun News reported
The National Pension Commission (PenCom) on Monday said N16 billion unremitted pension contributions have been recovered from various employers of labour in the last seven years. According to Nations Newspaper, the Commission also said pension assets have risen to N9.33 trillion as at the end of June 2019, as a total number of 8.72 contributors are registered with the commission across the country. Its Acting Director General, Aisha Dahir-Umar spoke during a one-day workshop in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. The workshop was organised by Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association (NECA) and PenCom on: Current Developments and Challenges in the Implementation of the Pension Reform Act 2014. Represented by Salihu Bwala, she said the pension asset was N7.44 trillion in January, 2019 and rose to over N9 trillion within five months, attributing the rise to the support from the organised private sector (OPS) and labour.
