The Federal Government is optimistic that factoring in Nigeria could unlock over $1 billion yearly in financing the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSMEs). It called on stakeholders to play the role that will make factoring happen in Nigeria, stressing that factoring has become one of the fastest growing instruments for structured trade finance in the world. It described factoring as a financial transaction whereby a business sells in account receivables [invoice] to a third party at a discount in exchange for immediate money with which to finance business activities.[Guardian]

President Muhammadu Buhari says the Federal Government has provided funds for the establishment of laboratories in all Federal tertiary institutions and its research centers. The Vice President of Nigeria , Prof Yemi Osinbajo, has indicated that the Federal Government is now committed to the revitalization and development of the mining sector to attract more local and foreign investments. Disclosing this in his remarks at the opening of the 5th Annual Nigeria Mining Week Discourse Series, Osinbajo stated that within the space of a year, the sector recorded a 26.7% increase in revenue generation from 2019 to 2020.[Vanguard]
Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development Hajia Sadiya Umar says more than nine million pupils across the country have benefited from the National Home Grown School Feeding Programme (NHGSFP). Umar said this on Tuesday in Makurdi at the handing-over of cooking utensils to Local Government Education Authority (LGEA) primary school, Wurukum. The federal government has approved contracts worth a total sum of N27.4billion for projects in the Works and Housing, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) ministries. This is even as the government approved the establishment of a Federal University of Health Sciences, as well as proposing a Bill for the enactment of the Civil Defence, Corrections, Fire, Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB). The federal government has launched a portal for the sale of houses completed under its National Housing Programme. Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Raji Fashola, made the disclosure at the unveiling ceremony of the portal held at the ministry’s headquarters in Abuja. He explained that the portal was opened in all the 34 states of the federation including the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, adding that “We urge government at all levels as well as Nigerians to use this opportunity and apply for the houses”. Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development on Tuesday trained agriculture stakeholders in Kwara State on the cashew value chain.
