According to Daily Times, President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the immediate implementation of the N30,000 new national wage for Federal Public Service workers currently earning below the minimum wage. The Chairman, National Salaries, Income and Wages Commission, Chief Richard Egbule said this while addressing a news conference on the implementation of the new national minimum wage on Tuesday in Abuja. He said that the commencement of the approved payment would be determined by the office of the Accountant-General and back dated to when the President signed the agreement. According to Egbule,the approval takes effect from April 18, 2018 and will affect the salary of government agencies under five salary structures.

Punch reports that the Federal Government through the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency has commenced the installation of prefabricated pilot joint briefing offices nationwide. The agency said the move is targeted towards digitising the nation’s aeronautical information service, adding that the installation team which had completed work at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos had proceeded to another airport and would continue the installation in 21 airports and three aerodromes nationwide. According to NAMA, when operational, the prefabricated offices will provide a one-stop shop at the airside where crew members can obtain AIS briefing, meteorological information and make necessary payments at a single point in compliance with International Civil Aviation Organisation Standard and Recommended Practices.

According to Punch, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria has begun the process of creating awareness on food handling across airports in the country. The agency said this became necessary following an increase in food poisoning incidents not just at airports within the country but globally, adding that food handling within airports had become a source of concern. The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of FAAN, Capt. Rabiu Yadudu, on Tuesday stated that airport food safety had become a topic of importance in contemporary aviation business. Yadudu who was represented by Nehemiah Auta of FAAN spoke at the agency’s maiden Airport Food Safety Awareness programme, with the theme, “Aviation industry and food safety: connecting the link”. He said, “The problem of food poisoning threatens the welfare and survival of our staff, customers and human race in general. The arrays of diseases in which environmental influences play roles are almost limitless and include disease of microbial, nutritional and toxicological origin as well as those involving physical injuries”.

Punch reports that the Nigeria Immigration Services generated a total of N39.06bn through issuance of passports and other services within the 2018 fiscal period, the National Bureau of Statistics has said. The figure was contained in a report on the activities of the agency which was released by the NBS on Friday. The NBS said the amount generated by the NIS in 2018 represented an increase of 9.34 per cent over the N35.72bn local revenue generated in 2017. In terms of passport application, the report stated that a total of 1,011,158 passport applications were received in 2018 as against 720,958 in 2017. This, according to the report, represents an increase of about 40.25 per cent when compared to the 2017 application figure.
