The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has unveiled a graduate entrepreneurship scheme with the aim of funding 25,000 start-ups annually and generating 75,000 jobs. The CBN disclosed this in the guidelines for the scheme, which is known as ‘‘Tertiary Institutions Entrepreneurship Scheme (TIES) adding that the broad objective of the scheme is to enhance access to finance by undergraduates and graduates of polytechnics and universities in Nigeria with innovative entrepreneurial and technological ideas. The Federal Government has said that it is currently stepping up the technical support and guidance it is giving the states of the federation worst hit by Cholera. The Federal Government through the Ministry of Education has approved the resuscitation of the National Secondary Education Commission (NSSEC) Act 1999 Cap.№73 LFN 2004 to oversee the affairs of Senior Secondary Schools in Nigeria. The Act according to the Executive Secretary of NSSEC, Dr Benjamin Abakpa, was enacted to prescribe national minimum standards for secondary education throughout Nigeria, manage the national secondary education fund, and for matters connected therewith.[Tribune]

Permanent secretary Federal Ministry of Works and Housing, Babangida Hussaini said the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration is creating jobs for Nigerians through construction of mass housing nationwide. Hussaini, who made the assertion at the ongoing 10th National Council on Lands, Housing and Urban Development holding in Lagos State was represented at the occasion by the director lands and housing of the ministry, Mrs Great- Edereka. Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation has earmarked N621bn to be spent on rehabilitating some selected federal roads, in order to sustain a smooth supply and distribution of petroleum products across the country. Recall, the Corporation had expressed interest to invest in the reconstruction of selected federal roads while urging the Petroleum Tanker Drivers Branch of the Nigeria Union of Petroleum & Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) to shelve their planned strike action.[Business Day]
