The Director General, National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), Mr. Jelani Aliyu, has disclosed that the country has started to earn foreign exchange through exportation of locally manufactured vehicles. Specifically, he said indigenous automobile company, Innoson Motors, had already commended export Made -in Nigeria vehicles to Mali. He pointed out that some local automobile companies had also commenced production of gas-powered vehicles as part of measures to support the federal government’s National Gas Expansion Programme.[This Day]
The first stadium in Nigeria, which is the dilapidated Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, hitherto known as Liberty Stadium, Ibadan in Oyo State, has finally caught the attention of the Federal Government. The government has promised to begin repair works on the leaking roof of the facility as well as fixing the grasses of the main bowl of the stadium within some days. The assurance was given by the Director of Procurement for the Federal Ministry of Youths and Sports Development, Mr. Segun Oke at the weekend, when the House of Representatives Committee on Youths and Sports Development paid an assessment visit to the stadium.[Sun News]

The Federal Government has urged state and local governments to increase their budgetary allocation to the agriculture sector. Speaking at a press briefing in Abuja on Friday, Muhammad Mahmood Abubakar, the new minister of agriculture and rural development, said, funding has over years, posed a challenge to the development of the agricultural sector at the sub-national level. According to the minister, his administration is hopeful that the passage of the Agricultural Trust Fund Bill, which has passed 1st and 2nd reading in the National Assembly, would provide the needed emergency support funding for agricultural activities in the country.
