President Muhammadu Buhari led government has again reassured federal civil servants of its commitment to harmonising their salaries before the end of 2021. Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr Folasade Yemi-Esan stated this on Tuesday, said the huge gulf in the salary scale of the public service needs to be addressed as quickly as possible. She said: ” A lot of work is being done on salaries. I chair a Presidential committee on harmonisation of salaries in the public service. And actually, it takes a lot of work. [Punch]

The Federal Government has assured members of the House of Representatives of its resolve to ensure adequate funding of major, economically viable roads across Nigeria. The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Works and Housing, Hassan Musa, gave the assurance on Tuesday in Abuja. Musa said the ministry had secured new funding for the Gombe-Biu federal road, reassuring that the Federal Executive Council would approve the rehabilitation project as well as other selected federal roads across the country. The Federal Government has approved N30 billion for polytechnics and colleges of education in the country. The approval came on the heels of series of agitations for better welfare for members by the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, ASUP. The Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu, disclosed this at a round table organized by ASUP in Abuja, The Minister, who was represented by the Executive Secretary, National Board of Tertiary Education, NBTE, Mr. Idris Bugaje, said the money is intended to alleviate the challenges facing Polytechnics and Colleges of Education in the country. The National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) has inaugurated a jetty as well as the siltation, flooding and pollution control of ferry channels in Lagos. The inauguration was the phase one of the handing-over ceremony of the project on ecological challenges of siltation, flooding and pollution of ferry channels and its adjoining communities in the state. The inauguration took place at the Olodi/Tin Can island water channel. Speaking at the event, the Minister of State for Health, Senator Adeleke Mamora, said that completion of the project had further demonstrated Mr. President’s commitment to addressing problems confronting various communities across the country. President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed hope that the recently launched eNaira would buoy and reposition Nigeria’s economy to attract investors. He also said the Treasury Single Account (TSA), Bank Verification Number (BVN), and National Identification Number (NIN) initiatives have reinforced his administration’s efforts in tackling corruption. Speaking at the fifth edition of Future Investment Initiative Summit in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Buhari assured that his administration would encourage public and private initiatives that increases investments in health, education, capacity building, youth empowerment, gender equality, poverty eradication, climate change and food security. Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Captain Rabiu Hamisu Yadudu, has said the airport managers were on the verge of re-certifying the Murtala Muhammed and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airports Lagos and Abuja respectively stressing that the effects of the COVID-19 break also affected the recertification. This is just as he has attributed the reduction of airports incursion including alleged theft at the airside to a dynamic airport security system that is functional and constantly evolving to meet clear and present threats. The Federal Government, on Tuesday, disclosed that it would soon roll out plans on how to scale up the con­tribution of the livestock sub-sector to the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).Dr. Mohammad Abubakar, Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development, disclosed this .The Minister, who was represented by Dr Maimuna Habib, decried the present 5 per cent contribu­tion of livestock sub-sector to the GDP. “The Federal Executive Council has graciously ap­proved an intervention fund to address the existing gaps in the animal health care ser­vices delivery in the country. President Muhammadu Buhari has said that the government will create 21 million jobs and lift 35 million Nigerians out of poverty by 2025. Buhari said a new plan titled “New National Development Plan (2021–2025) will be ready in a few weeks to enable Nigeria to achieve the target.
