The Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire, on Thursday said his ministry would soon come up with a policy that would mandate all Federal Government-owned health institutions in the country procure and use only syringes and needles manufactured in Nigeria. Ehanire said this when he appeared before a public hearing jointly organised by the Senate Committee on Health and that of Industry, Trade and Investment.[Punch]
Nigeria’s gas production has received a boost of 1.2 trillion cubic feet following the signing of a Gas Development Agreement (GDA) between the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and Sterling Oil Exploration and Production Company (SEEPCO). Group general manager, group public affairs division of the NNPC, Kennie Obateru, who disclosed this on Thursday, said the gas development and commercialisation programme of the NNPC would see the execution of the Oil Mining Lease (OML) 143 Gas Development Agreement (GDA), adding that the gas from the project would be processed at the Ashtavinayak Hydrocarbon Limited (AHL) 125million standard cubic feet (mmscf) of gas per day gas plant located in Kwale, Delta State. The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and Sterling Exploration and Energy Production Company (SEEPCO) have signed an agreement for the development and commercialisation of gas from the Oil Mining Lease, OML 143. The agreement is expected to sustain the reduction of gas flaring in the country. Speaking at the signing ceremony, NNPC GMD, Mele Kyari, said the deal was a great milestone, as well as testament to corporation’s commitment to facilitating the nation’s transformation into a gas-powered economy. The Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC), has designated the Edo Dry Port, otherwise known as the AMES-Edo Inland Container Dry Port, as an Export Warehouse or Aggregation Centre. The Council said that it would serve as a centre where surplus products could be aggregated, stored and transported in suitable condition to any port of shipment. [Vanguard]

Premium Times reported that the 18 candidates were recommended to Mr Buhari by the National Judicial Council (NJC) for appointment in March. The President approved the recommendations in a memo by his Chief of Staff, Ibrahim Gambari, and addressed to the CJN. A copy of the memo titled, ‘Re: Appointment of eighteen (18) Justices of the Court of Appeal of Nigeria’ was circulated online on Thursday.
