The Federal Government on Thursday launched 40 million safety kits for school children in Nigeria. The Ministry of Education launched the programme tagged “Children Accident Prevention Initiative” in collaboration with the National Union of Road Transport Workers on Thursday. Electricity consumers may finally begin to get some compensation for under-supply of power to their homes and businesses from July, the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), has said. He stated that as the process gets fully automated, the commission will migrate Discos to a monthly compensation arrangement. According to him, customers who do not get the expected quality and quantity of supply will be refunded and downgraded to a new band while there will be an attendant adjustment on their tariff levels. The Nigeria Export Promotion Council (NEPC) has disclosed that the council is working with the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) to promote the use of alternative ports in the country, working on construction of domestic export warehouses and common facility process centres for export commodities to enable the country reap the benefits of the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA). The Federal Controller of Works in Lagos, Mr Olukayode Popoola, on Thursday said Eko Bridge would be partially shut from midnight, Friday June 4th for rehabilitation. Popoola, who said this in a statement in Lagos, appealed to the public to shun rumours that the bridge would be closed on Friday, May, 28th. Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Umar, has said that the federal government is set to commence the payment of #5,000 to 1 million Urban Informal Workers for six months across the country to cushion the impact of COVID-19.The minister also revealed that Rapid Response Register has been put in place by the ministry to ensure proper implementation of the initiative. The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Alhaji Sabo Nanono, has commissioned the cassava plant at Afam in Oyigbo Local Government Area of Rivers State. He said the processing plant will address the challenges of value addition of the crop in the value chain sub sector. Speaking during the commissioning on Thursday, Nanono, noted that the plant will also promote the adoption and use of 10% high quality cassava flour (HQCF) in bread and confectionery business, so as to reduce wheat importation and conserve foreign exchange earnings to meet other needs.[Tribune]
The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has committed $332 million under its commercial ventures partnership programme to attract project developments worth $3.7 billion. Its Executive Secretary, Simbi Wabote, disclosed. According to him, partnership of the Board has been quite productive, especially in terms of value addition.
