With the commencement of commercial freight services on the Warri-Itapke rail line, the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) will be going forward, moving materials for the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) gas project being promoted by the Nigerian Gas Company Ltd. The Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN) on Thursday said it was partnering with Brains Hammers, a leading housing developer, to deliver about 5,000 units of affordable housing in the next 12 months across the country. Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta says the state government is willing to partner with the Federal Government to develop the solid mineral sector in the state. The federal government has announced plans to launch a special agro-industrial processing zones (SAPZ) programme. Laolu Akande, spokesman of Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, made this known in a statement on Friday. He said the project is in partnership with the African Development Bank (AfDB) and other stakeholders in the agric sector, including the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and the Bank of Industry (BOI). Under the programme, the federal government will demarcate areas across the 36 states and the federal capital territory (FCT) to establish about 140 agro-processing centres. [NIPC]
