The Nigerian Airspace Management Agency has obtained licences for 24 newly recruited air traffic control officers from the Nigerian Civil Aviation Organisation after undergoing the necessary training and examination on Aerodrome and Approach Control. The new air traffic controllers are currently being posted to strategic aerodromes in the country, NAMA said in a statement on Monday, adding that the deployment will boost capacity and efficiency of air traffic management in Nigeria.[Punch]

Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari has reversed the revocation of four Oil Mining Licences (OML) by the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) and restored their leases to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC). Buhari’s action, which was made known on Friday in a statement by his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, titled ‘President Buhari restores ownership of OML 123, others to NNPC’, affected OMLs 123, 124, 126 and 137. Shehu disclosed that Buhari had directed the DPR to retract the letter of revocation of the leases while directing the NNPC to utilise contractual provisions to resolve issues in line with the extant provisions of the Production Sharing Contract arrangement between the corporation and Addax, a Chinese firm. In view of the many complaints of difficulty by applicants in obtaining the Nigerian passport from the Nigerian Immigration Service, the Federal Government has assured on a new regime of passport processing and issuance starting from June 1, 2021. Rauf Aregbesola, minister of Interior, announced the new regime on Friday during a meeting with the leadership of the Nigeria Immigration Service, all passport control officers in Nigeria and Immigration Attachés around the world in his office in Abuja.[Business Day]
