The Minister of Power, Engr. Saleh Mamman, has reiterated his commitment of the present administration to solve the challenges in the power sector in order to provide reliable and affordable power to Nigerians Engr. Mamman, who stated this weekend in Abuja during the 2020 end of the year seminar organized by the Joint Negotiation Council, JNC, chapter of the Ministry of Power, said government efforts at improving the state of electricity supply top the citizenry was unwavering. The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) says all is now set for the training of indigent Niger Delta youths on technical skills at Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing Company. The commission’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr Ibitoye Abosede quoted the NDDC’s Interim Administrator, Efiong Akwa, as stating this after inspecting facilities at Innoson’s factory in Nnewi, Anambra. ”The youth will be trained in fabrication, assembly, painting and corrosion control, among others. Innoson Group will, in due course, set up workshops in the Niger Delta zone, in collaboration with organisations like NDDC,” he assured. [Guardian]

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) says the cost of liquidity management in the first six months of 2020 reduced to N671.26 billion compared to N1,288.49 billion in the corresponding period of 2019. This represents a cost reduction to the tune of N617.230billion and attributable to the bank’s deliberate efforts to promote real sector lending by Deposit Money Banks (DMBs) leading to the reduction in amount auctioned. The federal government on Sunday disclosed that airlines operating within and into the country airspace can begin the use of the Boeing 737 Max 8 and 9 aircraft following its lifting of the ban on the aircraft brand in 2019. Director-General of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Captain Musa Nuhu in an electronic statement on Sunday announced the decision to allow the aircraft type to resume operations in the Nigerian Airspace. The Federal Government has disclosed moves to boost cocoa production and export with jute bag-producing factories. The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Muhammad Nanono, yesterday, made this known during a courtesy visit by the leadership of Cocoa Association of Nigeria, CAN, at his office in Abuja. He maintained that establishment of jute bag industries across the country following effort made by government will ensure Nigerian cocoa meets international packaging standards, preservation, certification, acceptance and earning of more foreign exchange for farmers and exporters. The Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development has employed and trained some youth volunteers to monitor the impacts of the integrated National Social Investment Programmes (N-SIP) on the people of Kogi State.
