The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has congratulated music stars Burna Boy and Whizkid over their Grammy Award victories. In a statement issued in Lagos on Monday, the Minister described the much-deserved awards as fitting rewards for the persistent hardwork of the duo. Chief Timipre Sylva, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, says the Federal Government is committed to making Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinders available to Nigerians at affordable prices. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Sylva spoke on Friday at the groundbreaking of Rungas Group Type 3 Composite Cylinder Manufacturing Plant located at Alaro City, Epe, Lagos State. The minister said the project would enhance penetration of LPG, also known as cooking gas, in the country. [Independent]
Nigeria and 18 other African countries are to benefit from World Bank’s 22.5 million dollars additional financing for the Regional Off-Grid Electricity Access Project in Western and Central Africa. The World Bank announced this in a statement issued on Friday in Washington D.C., adding that its board of executive directors had approved the additional financing. It said the additional financing was in the form of grants from the International Development Association and the Clean Technology Fund. [Eagle]
The Federal Controller of Works in Lagos, Olukayode Popoola ,on Sunday ,said the Federal Government has postponed plans to partially close the Falomo Bridge in Victoria Island for repairs. Mr Popoola told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on telephone that the decision to suspend the rehabilitation of the bridge was reached after a meeting with relevant stakeholders. [Premium Times]
