The Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Ibrahim Pantami, has said the federal government developed over 20 policies to ensure that the country is built to a stage where digital innovation and entrepreneurship are used to create value and wealth for all. The Federal Government, yesterday, reaffirmed its commitment to bringing down inflation and growing the economy. Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, Clement Agba, stated at the FEC briefing on the latest performance figures released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS). The Federal Government, yesterday, at the Federal Executive Council meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari, approved contracts worth N58 billion for projects under the ministries of Works and Housing as well as Humanitarian Affairs, Social Development and Disaster Management. Fashola told newsmen that his ministry secured approval for the termination and re-award of the 49 kilometers section of Abaji to Kotonkarfi road, which is part of the Abuja-Lokoja highway. The contract is re-awarded to Messers Galt for N56.175 billion. [Guardian]
An update published on the website of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) indicated that seven Deposit Money Banks (DMBs) disbursed a total of N23.2 billion under the 100 for 100 initiative of the apex bank. On October 2021, the CBN introduced a new programme known as 100 for 100 PPP’ Policy on Production and Productivity to boost local production and productivity in various sectors of the economy. So far, 28 companies across the country have benefited from the initiative. These include 14 manufacturing companies, 12 agriculture sector, and two companies from the healthcare sector. Barely a month after activating navigational aids in Lagos, the Federal Government’s regulatory agency on brown water economy, National Inland Waterways Authority, (NIWA) has ramped up more safety timelines for Lagos waters by setting up a Search and Rescue centre. To ensure the centre is adequately manned to respond to emergencies, about 17 staff of the marine department in the Lagos area office, were trained on how to activate, identify and direct safety ecology towards distressed crafts on water.[Tribune]
