The Federal Executive Council (FEC), presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the sum of N35 billion for the building of a power station by the Nigerian Export Processing Zone Authority (NEPZA), in Akamkpa, Cross River State. He gave the extract contract sum as N35,411,119,159 and said the contractor would finance 75 per cent of the project, which is in the sum of N26,558,339,337, while the NEPZA would finance 25 per cent of the project, which translates to N8,852,779,792. The Federal Executive Council on Wednesday approved a contract worth about N1.3bn for the design, supply, and installation of PTZ long-range tarmac camera surveillance system at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos, and the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja. The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, disclosed this to State House correspondents at the Presidential Villa. “The total sum of the contract is N1,278,594,250. In a move aimed at reducing the impact of overloaded trucks on Nigerian roads, the Federal Government has commenced strict enforcement of calibration of installed load weighbridges across the country. The Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC), Mr. Segun Awolowo, has expressed delight over the attainment of Global Organic Certification status for Nigerian sesame seed by WACOT Nigeria from ECOCERT International. According to Awolowo, the day marked a landmark achievement for Nigeria as WACOT Nigeria Ltd attained the Global Organic Certification Status of the Nigerian Sesame Seed by ECOCERT International, the first of its kind in the history of the country, placing Nigeria on the World map of organic product producers and marketers. The Federal Executive Council FEC has approved the establishment of 20 private universities across the country. According to Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu, the approved universities would get their provisional licenses from the National Universities Commission (NUC), which they will use for the next three years while monitoring and evaluation will go on.
