The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Air Ambulance service has resumed operations after successful routine maintenance and completion of all civil aviation requirements. The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) said it has inaugurated a 12-member Flare Gas Commercialization Programme Team to facilitate the federal government’s initiative aimed at ending gas flaring by 2025. The Minister of State for Works Honourable Umar Ibrahim El Yakub has said that the Federal Ministry of Works has based on the national Housing Policy 2016 succeeded in delivering about 2,665 Houses out of the 5,900 to be constructed across the country. El Yakub made the disclosure on Saturday in Kano while on a tour of the Houses constructed by the ministry in Jaba in Panisau, in Fagge local government area of the state. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has approved a window for those with pending cases during the voter’s registration exercise to conclude their registration. The outgoing Resident Electoral Commissioner in Niger State, Prof. Sam Egwu, stated this on Monday. Professor Egwu, who handed over to Alhaji Yakubu Duku, mentioned that INEC has directed all pending registration and transfer cases to be opened for the completion of registration before the 18 of August 2022.[Tribune]
The Federal Government has directed the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) to evolve strategies that would deepen insurance penetration in the country by making operators develop new insurance products and policies. Dr George Morghalu, Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) on Monday deployed a new ambulance boat to the Lagos area office. The new watercraft fitted with amber lights and two 175 Horse Power engines made by Yamaha, with cream colour leather interior, fitted with medical equipment, first aid boxes, communication system, and stretchers, will form the fulcrum rapid response to accidents on Lagos waterways. Rugged and built to ferry accident victims and those who require immediate medical attention to the nearest hospital and Medical Hold Bay, the ambulance watercraft can travel at controlled timing without fear or anxiety of being buffeted by high-impact waves.[Tribune]
The Federal Government has said that it will continue to support the privatisation and commercialisation of critical sectors that pose a huge financial burden to it so as to boost the socio-economic, growth and development of the nation. The Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Dr Adeleke Mamora, disclosed this during the official presentation of the Full Business Case (FBC) certificates for the Public Private Partnership (PPP) in his office, in Abuja. President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the purchase of a helicopter for the National Park Service to enable the parks to step up their surveillance activities in protecting the Flora and Fauna of Nigeria.
