The Nigerian Government has begun the implementation of the 65 years retirement age for teachers in public schools. The 40 years of pensionable service for the teachers of basic schools has also commenced. Speaking on the implementation, the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, said the new policy is holistic in nature and is expected to address career path, remuneration, professional teaching standards, qualifications, deployment and management of teachers. Adamu, represented by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mr David Adejo, made the announcement on Monday. (Voice Of Nigeria)

Nigeria’s Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Muhammed says preparations are in the final stage as the nation is ready to host its first United Nations World Tourism Nigeria will this year, host 166 member states, with stakeholders from the public and private sector and civil society among others at the event scheduled to hold at the National Arts Theatre in Lagos State from 14th to 16th November. The Nigerian Government has announced plans to launch Nigeria Air with a shuttle service between Abuja and Lagos. This service will establish a new comfortable, reliable and affordable travel between these two major Nigerian Airports. In line with the International Maritime Organisation’ determination to achieve sustainable development in the maritime industry, the Federal Government has said that Nigeria is committed to achieving greener shipping. A statement by the Assistant Directors, Public Relations, Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, Osagie Edward, quoted the Minister of Transportation, Mu’azu Sambo, to have said this, as the country join IMO to commemorate the 2022 World Maritime Day. Sambo also said that Nigeria would not be left behind in the global move towards greener shipping, while also reflecting on the need for stakeholders in the maritime sector to begin exploring ways to transition into a greener and more sustainable future.(Punch)

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, on Monday, said the current regime would set up mechanisms to ensure that the momentum built in the micro, small and medium enterprises since 2015 is maintained beyond its exit in 2023. in his statement, He reiterated that they will make sure that they provide everything that is required to enable the incoming administration step into the positions that has been created in the MSME space, Osinbajo said when he received members of the ‘Made in Nigeria Project’ led by Mr Adedeji Alebiosu, on a courtesy visit to the Presidential Villa, Abuja. The Nigerian Communications Commission has disbursed financial grants and an endowment of N500m in seven years. It has also urged the Nasarawa State Scholarship Board to support the NCC in creating awareness about the intervention projects of the commission concerning research and digital literacy to provide more opportunities for the citizenry. This includes Digital Awareness Programme for secondary schools, the Advanced Digital Appreciation Programme for Tertiary Institutions, the Wireless Cloud, as well as the E-Health programme. (Punch)
