The Federal Government on Monday inaugurated the National Livestock Breed Improvement Programme with the aim of curbing incessant clashes between farmers and herders across the country. It said the programme would also address the development and transformation of the livestock value chain in the agricultural sector. Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Sabo Nanono, who inaugurated the programme in Kano, said the NALBIP would improve the genetic makeup of the indigenous breeds of animals, especially dairy cattle to achieve increased milk and meat yields. The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, yesterday commissioned the Federal Secretariat road named after him, as well as that of Port Harcourt road, constructed by governor Hope Uzodimma in the state. The commissioning of the roads was done virtually by the President in Owerri. The Federal Government has decided to reopen Kano, Port Harcourt and Enugu airports for international flights. Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, announced this on Monday during the weekly briefing of the PTF in Abuja. He said: “Now that we have most of the things in place due to the work by the PTF, we will be opening Enugu airport on the 3rd of May 2012. We will be opening Kano on the 5th of April, 2021 and Port Harcourt on the 15th of April, 2021 for international flights.” [Nation]
