The Federal Government has intensified peace efforts in the Niger Delta as the Interim Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), Milland Dikio, visited Gbaramatu on Monday as part of his ‘back to the region tour’. Dikio visited the Pere of Gbaramatu, Ogboro Gbaraun II Aketekpe, and other stakeholders of the kingdom. The federal government has said its Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) initiative will boost the country’s economy and create jobs for teeming youths. The Federal Government, on Tuesday, reintroduced a new on-street parking policy in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to bring about sanity in the city. Acting Secretary FCT Transportation Secretariat, Usman Yahaya, who stated this at a press briefing in Abuja, said the on-street parking scheme would be managed by four companies starting from 1, May 2021.[Tribune]
Federal Government, on Tuesday, inaugurated a 33-member Technical Working Group to ensure the effective planning and implementation of the Alternate School Programme. The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Umar Farouq, who inaugurated the Committee, during the 3rd meeting of the Alternate School Programme National Steering Committee. The Federal Government has constituted a new governing council for the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife. The five-man council which is expected to be inaugurated on Monday, April 19, 2021 is led by Chief Osita Oscar Udoji while others are Captain Bala Jubrin, Eugene Odo, Dr Lateef Babata and Alhaji Saidu Bako. The vice-chancellor of the institution, Professor Eyitayo Ogunbodede made this known a statement by the Public Relations Officer of the university, Mr Abiodun Olanrewaju. The Federal Government, on Monday, unveiled the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission’s (NIPC) ‘Book of States’, aimed at spurring domestic and Foreign Direct Investments (FDIs) for economic growth. The ‘Book of States’, a compendium of key investment opportunities and comparative advantages of the 36 states and the FCT was prepared by NIPC in conjunction with the Nigeria Governor’s Forum (NGF). Otunba Adeniyi Adebayo, Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, said at the formal launch of the compendium in Abuja, that the initiative would help attract the right investments to Nigeria, improve productivity, create jobs and generate revenue for the country.[NIPC]
