The Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, has spent the sum of N85.89 billion on its Health Sector Intervention Facility (HSIF). CBN governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, disclosed this, in Abuja, yesterday, while disbursing the sum of N253.54 million to five researchers for the development of Nigerian COVID-19 vaccines and vaccines for other diseases.[Vanguard]

The federal government has hacked up the capital budget of the National Identity Management Commission, NIMC from 500 million to N5 billion. The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Ibrahim Pantami disclosed this on Tuesda, He said the Commission’s capital budget was raised up from meagre N500–700 million usually approved for the Commission to now N5 billion to enable it meet up with its needs and mandate in line with the present reality in the sector. The Federal government has approved the provision of an additional full medical oxygen plant at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, LUTH with a view to ensuring oxygen sufficiency in the hospital and other neighbouring hospitals that depend on the Tertiary institution for their oxygen needs. The Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire further disclosed that the government plans to build an oxygen plant in each of the states of the federation, insisting that the government would also be upgrading oxygen plants at LUTH to meet the hospital’s requirement as well as other neighbouring hospitals.[Vanguard]
President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed commitment to ensure that the Port-Harcourt-Maiduguri rail line is resuscitated. The Honourable Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola launched the Nigerian Temporary Passport (NTP) at NIS Headquarters, today, Tuesday 9th March, 2021.The Temporary Passport is a new genre of Passport that will be issued at the Nigerian Embassies/High Commissions outside the country to Nigerians desirous of returning home but whose national passport is not available.The Honourable Minister stated that the Temporary Passport is a travel document designed for a one-way travel to Nigeria only and that the new document replaces the hitherto Emergency Travel Certificate (ETC) which was issued to Nigerians in emergency situations for the purpose of returning home.[FGN]
The Federal Government Said on Monday it has begun the distribution of Oxford/Astra Zeneca Covid-19 vaccines to states to continue the vaccination of priority groups in the first phase of the process. Faisal Shuaib, the executive Director of National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), disclosed this. The Federal Government has approved paternity and compassionate leave, among others, for the staff of the National Information Technology Development Agency. This was disclosed by the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Pantami, at the unveiling and presentation of the NITDA’s Employee-Centric Condition and Scheme of Service in Abuja on Tuesday.In his address, the minister appreciated the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), for his approval of both documents for NITDA on the 12th of February, 2021, as well as his general support for the digital economy sector.[Punch]
