At the end of April, the Nigerian Air Force took delivery of a second batch of 2 brand new Mi-35M helicopter gunships to boost internal security.
The Nigerian Air Force has established three new Quick Response Wings (QRW), in Taraba, Nasarawa and Benue states respectively, and deployed Special Forces personnel to these new bases. (Taraba State QRW is located in Nguroje, Nasarawa State QRW in Doma; and Benue State QRW in Agatu).
In Benue, the Military has assembled a Special Intervention Force of more than 1,000 personnel, to secure the State. On May 8, 2018, the Force launched Operation Whirl Stroke, as a full-scale military operation to completely restore law, order and stability in the affected communities. The Whirl Stroke Operational Force Commander is Major General Adeyemi Yekini. The Operation has already killed and/or arrested several armed bandits, herdsmen and militiamen.
The Nigeria Police Force has established a new Area Command and two additional Divisional Police Headquarters in the Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The Nigeria Police Force has also inaugurated a new Mobile Squadron in Takum, Taraba State.
On Monday 14th May, 2018, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen. Tukur Buratai, flagged-off the Army’s newly-established 2 Battalion Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Kanfanin Doka Village, Birnin-Gwari, Kaduna State.
National Livestock Transformation Plan (NLTP) (2018–2027)
As part of medium-term to long-term measures to deal lastingly with the security situation in the North Central zone of the country, the Federal Government has, working with a diverse range of stakeholders, produced a National Livestock Transformation Plan (NLTP), a comprehensive Plan that focuses on the following core areas: Economic Investment, Conflict Resolution, Law & Order, Humanitarian Relief, and Information, Communication & Education.
